Outreach Concert Series Our outreach concerts are an opportunity for us to reach out to younger musicians in Greenville County. Middle School Orchestra Festival, November 4 and 5, 2011, hosts over 100 area middle school students in a two day event of rehearsal and small group instruction with our Young Artist Orchestra members. The festival concludes with a performance by the Middle School Festival Orchestra and GCYO’s Sinfonia.
Winter Orchestras Concert, January 31, 2012 and Spring Orchestras Concert, April 24, 2012. These concerts are hosted by Greenville County Youth Orchestra Association each year. Up to five of Greenville County’s after school orchestra groups perform at these concerts, giving these groups the opportunity to perform before a large audience and be exposed to more advanced groups at the same time.
Outreach Concert Friend - $1500.00
Scholarship Sponsorships Summer studies scholarship: Pursuing a music education is a very costly proposition. As a music education organization we require our students to study privately and encourage them to attend summer music programs. Each spring GCYO offers scholarship monies to deserving, talented orchestra members to be used for summer music studies. Monies must be used to defray the cost of a summer music camp program or private lessons. Students must be in good standing with the orchestra to apply. Six, $600 scholarships are awarded based on audition performance.
Outstanding senior scholarship: This $800.00 scholarship is awarded each year to a graduating senior who will be pursuing a music education at an accredited college, university or conservatory. Students must be in good standing with the orchestra to apply. Award is based on audition performance.
Scholarship sponsors will receive the following: Doctorate (1,000.00+)
Masters (500 – 1,000)
