Welcome to
GREENVILLE COUNTY YOUTH ORCHESTRA
at the Fine Arts Center

“Greenville County Youth Orchestra provides a superior orchestral experience to musically talented students while fostering their personal growth.”
Greenville County Youth Orchestra is the young artist orchestra of the School District of Greenville County, and is the Orchestra-In-Residence at Greenville’s Fine Arts Center. It is a full symphony orchestra comprised of string ensemble and solo woodwind, brass, and percussion players.
Greenville County Youth Orchestra is also a credit-bearing course in advanced orchestral performance. Members ofl GCYO receive a full unit of honors-level credit. GCYO rehearses at the Fine Arts Center each Tuesday from 6:30 until 9:30.
GCYO’s primary goal is to provide the highest level of musical experience for its members. For the aspiring professional musician, it provides the hands-on training essential to begin a musical career. And for the avocational player, it provides an enrichment which can only be found in the rehearsal and performance of fine musical literature in a well-trained ensemble. To meet this goal, GCYO is staffed by professional musicians and certified educators.
In addition to providing sound training, it is also the goal of GCYO to be a well-rehearsed musical ensemble that is capable of performing public concerts on a near-professional level of proficiency.
You, the orchestra member, will find belonging to GCYO an experience, which demands dedication, a commitment of time, and going beyond that which you might normally consider “your best.” But with your dedication, you, like the hundreds of young people who have belonged to GCYO, will find this experience rewarding and enjoyable, and one that you will remember for many years to come. |
